A Study on the Characteristics of Flowering in Hibiscus Syriacus L.

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was made to clarify the conditions of flower bud formation by means of controlling the photoperiod and temperature and to see the change in flower type and shapes of reproductive organ in Hibiscus syriacus L. The results are summarized as follows;
1. The flower bud formation took place in long day (16hrs). When the temperature became lower, the photoperiodic responses were very much reduced and the time needed to form the first flower bud was retarded.
2. The flowering was controlled by the same conditions as the bud formation.
3. The flower type and shape of reproductive organs showed different according to the photoperiod and temperature changes.
